How do I install Cart Sync?

1. Visit the Shopify App Store and search for "Cart Sync"
2. Click "Add app" and authorize the required permissions
3. The app will automatically start synchronizing carts across devices
4. No theme modifications required - everything works automatically!

What permissions does Cart Sync need?

Cart Sync requires the following Shopify API permissions:

  • read_customers, write_customers: To identify customers and sync their carts
  • read_products: To maintain accurate product information in carts
  • read_orders: To automatically clear carts when orders are completed
  • read_inventory: To ensure products in carts are still available

How long does it take to set up?

Setup is instant! Once you install the app and authorize permissions, cart synchronization begins immediately. There's no configuration needed.

How does cart synchronization work?

Cart Sync automatically synchronizes your customers' shopping carts across all their devices:

  1. Customer adds items to cart on their phone
  2. Cart Sync saves the cart data securely
  3. Customer switches to their desktop computer
  4. Cart Sync automatically loads their saved cart
  5. Customer can continue shopping without losing items

What devices are supported?

Cart Sync works on all devices:

Does Cart Sync work with guest checkouts?

Cart Sync works best with logged-in customers. For guest users, carts are synchronized using browser sessions, which means they work within the same browser but may not persist across different browsers or devices.

What happens to carts after an order is placed?

When a customer completes an order, Cart Sync automatically clears their cart to prevent confusion. This ensures a clean shopping experience for their next purchase.

Is cart data encrypted?

Yes! All cart data is encrypted in transit (SSL/TLS) and at rest. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your customers' information.

Troubleshooting

Carts are not synchronizing - what should I check?

  1. Verify the customer is logged into their account on both devices
  2. Check that the app has the required permissions in your Shopify admin
  3. Try logging out and back in on both devices
  4. Contact support if the issue persists

Why did my cart disappear?

Carts may be cleared in these scenarios:

  • Order was successfully completed
  • Cart data expired (30-day retention limit reached)
  • Customer manually cleared their cart
  • Product became unavailable or was deleted

How do I test if Cart Sync is working?

1. Create a test customer account in your store
2. Log in on one device (e.g., your phone)
3. Add products to the cart
4. Log in with the same account on another device (e.g., desktop)
5. Verify the cart contains the same items

Cart Sync app won't load in Shopify admin

1. Clear your browser cache and cookies
2. Try accessing the app in an incognito/private browser window
3. Ensure you're using a supported browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge)
4. Check if your browser is blocking cookies or scripts
5. Contact our support team if the issue continues

Privacy & Security

Is Cart Sync GDPR compliant?

Yes! Cart Sync is fully GDPR compliant. We have implemented all required webhooks for customer data requests and deletion. See our Privacy Policy for details.

How long do you store customer data?

We store data only as long as necessary:

  • Cart data: Cleared after order completion or 30-day expiration
  • Shop data: Retained while app is installed, deleted on uninstall
  • Session data: Managed by Shopify's session system

Can I request deletion of my data?

Yes! You can request data deletion at any time by:

  1. Uninstalling the app (automatic deletion)
  2. Contacting our support team at support@aldrichify.com
  3. Using Shopify's built-in data request system

Technical Information

Does Cart Sync require theme modifications?

No! Cart Sync works through Shopify's App Proxy and doesn't require any manual theme code changes. Installation is completely automatic.

Will Cart Sync slow down my store?

No. Cart Sync is optimized for performance and uses asynchronous operations to ensure your store's speed is not affected. All cart synchronization happens in the background.

What Shopify plans are supported?

Cart Sync works with all Shopify plans: Shopify Basic, Shopify, Advanced Shopify, and Shopify Plus.

Can I use Cart Sync with multiple stores?

Each Shopify store requires its own Cart Sync installation. Cart synchronization is isolated per store for security and data privacy.
